Automotive Technology Specialization: Collision Repair Technician, Service Advisor, Parts Specialist
Students enrolled in this specialization course will choose one of the following pathways:
Collision repair technician students will learn to assess, repair, and restore vehicles damaged in collisions, including identifying structural damage, replacing body panels, aligning frames, and using specialized tools to return a vehicle to its pre-accident condition, while adhering to safety standards and industry best practices.
Service advisor specialization students will learn to interact with customers at a car dealership, including accurately assessing vehicle repair needs, explaining complex automotive issues in plain language, creating repair estimates, managing customer expectations, scheduling appointments, and promoting additional services, all while maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction and adhering to dealership policies. The course also emphasizes communication skills, knowledge of automotive terminology, and proficiency with service writing software to ensure accurate repair documentation.
Parts specialization students will obtain the knowledge and skills necessary for a career as a parts specialist in an automotive dealership or parts warehouse. The course focuses on customer service skills, knowledge of vehicle systems, part identification through catalogs and computer systems, ordering procedures, inventory management, and a basic understanding of automotive repair procedures to help customers identify needed parts.
