Business Law
Students examine the foundations of the American legal system, including federal and Virginia laws and court systems. Students gain knowledge and skills by exploring economic and social concepts related to the law, along with the legal rights and responsibilities of business entities and consumers. Focus areas include contracts, business and consumer protection, criminal law, tort law, international law, family/domestic law, employment law, cyber law, and careers in and related to the legal profession. Contextual instruction and student participation in co-curricular career and technical student organization (CTSO) activities will develop leadership, interpersonal, and career skills. High-quality work-based learning (HQWBL) will provide experiential learning opportunities related to students' career goals and/or interests, integrated with instruction, and performed in partnership with local businesses and organizations.
