- applying protective cream around the hairline
- using protective gloves
- referring to the client's record card for pertinent information
- performing a predisposition test (patch test)
- analyzing the client's scalp and hair
- performing a strand test
- using cleaned towels and implements
- removing any lightener or color with a cool damp cloth
- replacing soiled towel with a clean towel if necessary
- rinsing with cool tepid water
- adhering to manufacturer directions and SDS.
