Performance should include a visual inspection of the following SMAW equipment and accessories daily, in accordance with instructor or employer policy:

• Work lead
• Electrode lead

• Why is it important to check insulators on an electrode holder?
• What can happen if a connection is loose on the electrode or ground lead?
• Why is it important for the equipment and workspace, including the floor, to be dry?
