Research should include distinguishing among roles in broadcasting, filmmaking, advertising, and other video and media fields. It may include roles such as
• producer
• director
• cinematographer
• director of photography
• sound technician
• set designer
• lighting technician
• production assistant
• camera operator
• talent
• script writer.
Process/Skill Questions:
• What education, training, and other qualifications does one need to qualify for each role?
• How many people does a production require in each role?
• What equipment does each role require?
• How do these personnel interact to create a production?
• What is a run down, and who is responsible for creating it?
• What function do unions have in television and movies (e.g., International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, Moving Picture Technicians, Artists and Allied Crafts of the United States, Its Territories and Canada [IATSE])?
