Demonstration should include observing appropriate conduct and safety procedures while

• using ladders (e.g., three-point contact)
• carrying ladders (e.g., two people at all times)
• erecting and setting ladders.

Demonstration may also include identifying the parts and safety features of additional ladder types, such as

• wall (straight) ladder
• articulating ladder
• extension and single ladder
• roof ladder
• attic ladder
• special purpose ladders (e.g., “A” ladder, folding ladder, pompier ladder)
• solid beam ladder
• fiberglass ladder

and the parts and safety features of each.

Process/Skill Questions:

• Why are ladders rated for certain weights?
• Why is the apex (highest point) of a step ladder not considered a step?
• Why should an electrician never use an aluminum ladder or platform?
