Planning should include

- defining the job description of each member of your team
- brainstorming and researching possible solutions for the engineering design problem
- planning the chosen solution
- identifying resources needed to produce the design, such as tools, energy, materials, people, time, information, and capital
- illustrating the chosen solution, using sketches or drawings
- predicting how the design will work.
