Development should include
- spatial reasoning
- orthographic projection
- a three-view sketch of an object
- drafting conventions and symbols such as
- various line types
- dimensioning techniques
- proper views.
Development also should include
- developing isometric sketches from orthographic views
- sketching both orthographic and isometric views of objects that would solve mechanical problems, such as brackets, mounts, parts of mechanisms
- sketching objects from oral descriptions.
Process/Skill Questions:
- When might it be necessary to draw sketches?
- When developing new products or processes, what happens after a sketch is made?
- Why is spatial reasoning important when creating sketches?
