This course introduces students to biotechnological research and experimentation techniques used in the plant, animal, environmental, and food science industries. Students develop occupational skills, learn to think critically, work collaboratively, and use data analysis to make informed decisions regarding societal, legal, and ethical concerns posed by agricultural biotechnology. This course prepares students for postsecondary educational opportunities in biotechnology-related careers in the agriculture, food, and natural resources (AFNR) industries. Contextual instruction and student participation in co-curricular career and technical student organization (CTSO) activities will develop leadership, interpersonal, and career skills. High-quality work-based learning (HQWBL) will provide experiential learning opportunities related to students' career goals and/or interests, integrated with instruction, and performed in partnership with local businesses and organizations.

Notes

Competencies within this course ensure compliance with the National FFA Organization's Federal Charter Amendments Act (Public Law 116-7). Through this legislation, students are provided opportunities for leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education.
