R U Ready Scheduled for January Mailing
The 2006 edition of R U Ready: Life After High School is scheduled for mailing in January to the head guidance counselor at every Virginia high school. The full-color, magazine-style guides are intended for distribution to all 11th graders in the state. R U Ready is designed to help students understand the importance of their senior year and prepare for a successful career in the real world.
The basic format of the 2006 magazine is the same as in 2005, but revisions have been made to some of the articles. For example, the financial aid article has been revised to more accurately reflect the needs of 11th and 12th graders. And the "Cool Jobs" article has been replaced by one about students who have used their high school CTE courses to begin their careers. The new article is entitled "Movin' On Up."
As soon as the new R U Ready publication is available, the CTE Resource Center staff will prepare the 2006 edition of Ready or Not, the teacher’s guide to accompany R U Ready.
R U Ready is an annual career planning guide for Virginia’s 11th-grade students, published by the Virginia Business magazine in partnership with the Virginia Department of Education’s Office of Career and Technical Education Services.
R U Ready also has a Web site.
