Evaluation should include
- examining one’s personal biases and assumptions about particular professions and educational pathways
- family expectations
- personal cultural perceptions (e.g., gender roles, media portrayals)
- the amount of time one wants to spend in school and/or training programs
- changing interests and abilities over one’s lifetime.
Process/Skill Questions:
- In what ways do parents, educators, media, and friends/peers influence your thoughts and feelings about education?
- What factors have the most influence on your career choices? Why?
- In what ways does social media affect one’s perception of certain careers or educational pathways?
