V-TECS: Background and Distribution

For more than 20 years, Virginia has relied on V-TECS products as a foundation for its vocational education curriculum. Until recently (the early 1990s), V-TECS materials were printed. Now, the V-TECS Direct database allows member states to share materials that are portable, searchable, and easily customized to meet local requirements.

The CTE Resource Center addresses Virginia's obligations to the consortium and coordinates distribution of the V-TECS Direct software through a network of site contacts at school divisions throughout the state. The CTE Resource Center also arranges training and support for users of the software.

  • 227 people from 140 locations statewide were trained in the DOS version of V-TECS between November, 1995 and November, 1996
