Stepping Stones to Success

The CTE Resource Center has completed a two-part resource designed specifically for new teachers. Center staff members are available to come to your local school division and present a workshop, based on this new resource, specifically tailored to your new CTE teachers.

Stepping Stones to Success Teacher to Teacher is a guide that provides practical tips and useful information for anyone new to the teaching profession. This document contains excellent resources to implement into instructional practices. User-friendly handouts, a glossary of terms, and a list of useful Web sites are also included.

Stepping Stones to Success II Collaboration: Working Together for All Students, the second in the series, focuses on the concept of collaboration among teachers, administrators, and parents and includes useful information about ways to collaborate in the general and special education classrooms. It also contains special education and legal terminology, a glossary of terms that can be used on Individual Education Plans (IEP) and throughout the teaching profession, and a list of resources that the teacher can use to get further assistance.

Both of these documents are valuable resources for new teachers, as well as for teachers who need fresh ideas and resources to improve not only their classroom, but also their professional lives.

Center staff has put together a workshop that can run from one to two hours, depending on the local need. For further information or to schedule a workshop in your school division, contact Peggy Watson at 804-673-3778 or mlwatson@ctersource.org.
