Building Management II 8591

Suggested Grade Levels: 11 or 12 (36 weeks, 280 hours)

Prerequisite:  Building Management I (8590/co-op not available/36 weeks, 140 hours)

Students obtain advanced knowledge and skills to perform the upkeep of commercial and public buildings and grounds through hands-on training in cleaning operations, building repairs, plumbing, and grounds maintenance. The cooperative education method is available for this course. Students combine classroom instruction and supervised on-the-job training in an approved position with continuing supervision throughout the school year.

As noted in Superintendent’s Memo #106-10 (4-30-2010), this Career and Technical Education (CTE) course must maintain a maximum pupil-to-teacher ratio of 20 students to one teacher, due to safety regulations. The 2010-2012 biennial budget waiver of the teacher-to-pupil ratio staffing requirement does not apply.
